Hello from Barbara Cameron!

I'm so excited to be posting to our new blog. I hope you're enjoying the site.

If you're reading this blog, you're a fan of Amish fiction like the four of us. When I was asked to write One Child, my first Amish novella, for An Amish Christmas collection for Thomas Nelson, I was thrilled. Isn't the cover just breathtaking? (Look to the bottom right of this page.)

I first became interested in the Plain People when I visited family in Lancaster County, Pa. I've returned often since then and am so inspired by their devotiion to faith, family, and hard work. Although I have been writing fiction and non-fiction for a long time, the inspirational stories I write about the Amish are my favorites.

I'll be posting more information on my other Amish titles soon, but in the meantime, let me tell you a little about One Child. I live in Florida (that's why I'm squinting a little in the bright sun in my photo) and one warm day in November, I found myself waxing nostalgic about snow. You see, I moved to Florida from Ohio when I was a teenager and it just doesn't feel like the holidays without snow. Anyway, I suddenly got this idea about a story set during a snowstorm in Amish country and felt an immediate, emotional attachment for my characters--one Amish couple, one Englisch couple. I quickly wrote up a two page synopsis for the editor and the story just flowed. My Old Order Amish friend who read the storyt called it "heartwarming." I hope you'll feel the same way when you read it. An Amish Christmas will appear in bookstores in mid-August. Beth, Kathy, and I hope you'll buy it for yourself and for gifts for family and friends for the holidays.

The three of us are working on a second novella collection called An Amish Gathering for Thomas Nelson. It will appear later this year.

Thank you so much for your interest in our blog. Check back over the weekend to meet Amy!
