Help Me Choose Future Giveaways!

Millie Winters won the drawing from last week!  She wins a sneak peek at the recipe I will be including in An Amish Christmas - Molasses Crinkle Cookies.

In May, I will be going to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, to visit my Amish friends and to sign copies of Plain Perfect and Plain Pursuit.  More details on this as it gets closer.  I plan to bring back some authentic Amish items for giveaways on this site.  What type of items would you like to see me offer as giveaways?  In the past, I have brought back quilted potholders, cookbooks, a lovely kitchen towel set formed into an angel for displaying in the kitchen, quilted carriers that hold crayons and coloring books for the little ones - things like that.

Keep in mind that I have to be able to get it on the plane!  Last time I traveled to Pennsylvania, I had to sit on my suitcase to get it to close, lost the first wheel in the parking lot at the airport, and was told it was eight pounds over the allowable weight.  But, when the second wheel fell off my suitcase while in line at the airport, the clerk must have felt sorry for me, and she let me check my overweight, bulging suitcase with no wheels!  This time I'm taking an extra suitcase just to bring back giveaway items, so give me some ideas!  For example, right now on my personal blog, I am giving away a lovely set of gift cards, a collector's item in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the movie 'Witness' starring Harrison Ford.

Between now and my trip, I'll be writing down all your suggestions for giveaway items.

Also, I want to invite anyone in the Dallas, Texas area to come to the Christian Book Expo this weekend.  There will be over two hundred authors on hand to sign books - yours truly included!  I'll be at booth #428 on Saturday, March 21, at 1 p.m.  Click on this link for more info.  Christian Book Expo.

Have a blessed week!  Beth

Some suggestion of things you could give away??? This is the easiest to answer- A quillow was my favourite purchase last time I was there, recipe books, decorative serviettes, pot holders, I also found a handmade quilted backpack( not expensive, either). The Amish are wonderful cooks and craftspeople!! NO better to be found anywhere in my travels. What a great idea for an Amish fiction author. Thank you for taking suggestions.

I would like anything you could bring back, but a Quilt or potholders are nice. I think anything from the Amish would BE GRAND. Thanks for asking us.

I love cookbooks, so get lots of cookbooks. I also think the amish make lots of lovely knick knacks. It has been a while since I was in amish country, but if I would have gotten everything I wanted I would have needed a u-haul.

I would like anything you brought back that is made by the Amish. I love their cookbooks and quilts. They have alot of wood-crafted items also. To bad you can't fit one of them hickory rockers in your luggage.

Hello, I think Amish Dolls (faceless) wall decorations, and everything you already described would be great!! Thanks for asking. I had also stayed at the Beiler's when I visited Lancaster. That was a wonderful place to stay and relax. I would never stay any where else when I go.

Anything quilted would be wonderful. They make wonderful jams, jellies, pickles, etc, but those might be hard for you to transport on the plane. Maybe cookbooks or interesting books about the Amish. Small wooden knicknacks or spoon rests, that sort of thing.

Im an aussie but am interested in your books and Amish goods. (Not sure we have many here) But a friend had made some of the Amish dolls and they are so nice, also if aussies can enter contests flat works good for posting. potholders, pincushions, coaster, do they make bookmarks at all they would be lighter to carry.

Anything hand made by the Amish or Mennonite is great. The one item I would suggest is a cake tester that is made out of broom material, not sure what it is officially called but you take a piece of the straw out to test your cake in the oven. It comes with a saying that explains it and is small enough for your suitcase. I go to Lancaster twice a year and they have them in the bake shop in Kitchen Kettle.
