My Trip to Lancaster County
Hope you all had a blessed Easter! Very quiet at my house. Since my children are 24 and 17 (boys), they don't feel the need to dye Easter eggs any more. I miss that. Next year I'm going to dye them anyway.
My trip to Lancaster County is a little over a month away. I can't wait to go spend a few days with my Amish friends. I was looking back through my pictures from last year, and I thought I'd share one of my favorites. I took this picture from a very long way away and zoomed in. Although this is okay, it's disrespectful to take frontal shots of the Amish. This picture was taken at a Mud Sale in Penryn, about thirty minutes from the town of Paradise. A Mud Sale is a big auction at a fire station. Large farm equipment is auctioned outdoors, and quilts and housewares are auctioned off inside. This particular Mud Sale was run almost entirely by Amish folks. There is lots of detail about this in Plain Pursuit, Book #2 in the Daughters of the Promise series. I incorporated my experience at the event in the book. It is something to see! I've never seen so many beautiful quilts in my life. My Amish friends said it is called a Mud Sale because it seems to always rain when they have one. However, it was a beautiful day in Penryn when I went.
| Look at these little boys. Aren't they precious? Check out the sleeves on the boy on the right. |
I can't wait to get back there!
A SIDE NOTE - I'm giggling as I write this...but, several people have asked WHO the girl is on the cover of Plain Promise, book #3 in the series. I'm a little confused by the question. One person actually thought it was me! While I am incredibly flattered, I assure you it is a hired professional model who is young enough to probably be my daughter! Now, if people are wondering what character is on the cover...this is Sadie. Sadie was in Plain Perfect and Plain Pursuit, and she is the leading lady in Plain Promise.
I will be in Lancaster County on May 23 signing books, if anyone is in the area. I will be in Lake Jackson, Texas this next weekend at The Sonshine Book and Gift Shop from 1 to 3 p.m. For a full list of scheduled signings, please go to my website at www.bethwiseman.com.
Have a great week!

Dear Beth, I have already read Plain Perfect and will be going to Lancaster this coming Friday for the day, so will look for Plain Pursuit at my favorite shops where I buy all my Amish novels.
I hope to get up to Beiler's B&B in May for your book signing. We visit Lancaster often, as we only live 2 hours away. God bless you and your family. And keep those Amish novel coming as I have enjoyed them so very much. Doris, Brick, NJ

That's funny about the girl on the cover of Plain Promise. I figured she was a professional, but the artist did a great job capturing the expression on her face. Love the cover!

Wow, those boys are adorable. I would love to see their faces, but I understand that is not allowed. I just love the amish, they are precious in God's sight and anyone who are impressed with the Amish.

What a precious picture of the little Amish boys! I had hoped to receive my copy of Plain Pursuit by Easter so I could have some time over the quiet weekend to read it, but it didn't arrive. No problem, as I had the ARC copy I had won for my daughter of Plain Perfect. So I just read Plain Perfect again instead, and I enjoyed it even more the second time! Then today Plain Pursuit arrived! So now I have some more good reading! I still think Plain Perfect would make a delightful screenplay, like as a Hallmark special. Have you thought about that??

Oh, yes! Thought about it! Dreamed about it!
I stumbled across a blog one day where people were discussing which books would make the best movies. Plain Perfect was chosen as the one they'd like to see made into a movie. They went so far as to choose actors and actresses to play the parts. And, I have to tell you....I CANNOT see Goldie Hawn playing Sarah Jane...lol. That's who they picked.
Thanks SO much for your interest in the books. I love writing them!
Hugs, Beth
