Help Me Name My Baby!
Okay, not really my baby, but one of my character's babies. (If my friend Trish is reading this, I'm sure I gave her a heart attack just now!)
I'm working on the second book in my Hearts of Middlefield series, An Honest Love. Now, I'm not saying who is having the baby, but a baby makes an appearance in this book, and I need a name for the little munchkin. An Amish female name, to be specific. These are the names I can't use:
Moriah
Rachel
Anna
Ruth
Elisabeth
Maria
Verna
Any other Amish name is fair game. The name can be classic, like Mary, or Biblical, like Hannah. Actually, Mary is both classic and biblical, isn't it?
You can leave your suggestion in a comment, and I'll gather the names, put them in a hat, and choose the winner next Wednesday. I look forward to your ideas!
'Til next time,
Kathleen

I suggest Rebekah.

I would suggest the name Esther. It was my grandmother's name, which I have always loved and it certainly is biblical. Her family was Penn. Dutch, and from the Brethren In Christ faith, which is very similar to Mennonite.

I think you should name her Leah. My sister had a baby girl in Feb. and Leah was my suggestion for a name, but she went for Rylie instead. We have an Amish friend in Indiana with this name.

My suggestions for a beautiful Amish baby girl are Katie or Judith. I have two beautiful collectible Amish dolls a boy and a girl doll and my girl doll is named Judith. But I'm sure any name you choose will be perfect. Love your novels. Keep them coming. Dee

Naomi...from the West Nickel Mines, Pennsylvania epic in 2006. The then pregnant visiting mother, Lydia, named her child after little 7 yr old Naomi Rose Ebersol who tragically lost her life that day by shooter Charles Roberts. Lydia, a teacher from another Amish school, was one of three other mother's with infants who were released to go free.

Sorry for the slow response - I was recovering from a tiny heart attack. Don't worry about me - I will be fine.
Of course, I think you should name the baby "Trish" but it is not a classic or biblical name. I love the names Sarah, Emma or Eva. And, for the record, if you ever have another baby girl in real life, you must name her Trish.

I mention yesterday that Eliana was a beautiful name for an Amish baby. The guys sometime are named Eli so Eliana would be good for a girl. I told you the wrong meaning. It means God has answered me. I like it.

What about VIRGINIA they can call her Ginny or ELIZABETH that is a Bibical name and can be nick named, Liz, Lizzy, Beth, Betty, I think Elizabeth would be a great Amish name added to Lapp, or Kauggman, etc and by the way I saw this on some more comments and I am not coping them as this is my middle name, 2 of my granddauger's middle names and my grandmother, and great-grandmother as well as my only aunt. My Mom's name was Virginia and was called Ginny.
