Going to Holmes County!
On Friday my husband Jimmy and I will celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary. Last year we went to Holmes County (the second largest Amish settlement in North America) for our anniversary, and we had such a great time we decided to go back again. Next week I'll have pictures to post and tidbits to tell (about the Amish, not us!
) but here's where we'll be staying: The Barn Inn.
This B&B is in Millersburg, which is a lovely town. If you check out the Innkeepers Diary on the website you'll see that the Duggar family from 18 Children and Counting on TLC stopped there for a visit May 31.
One reason Jimmy and I enjoy going to Holmes is the peaceful setting. Holmes is in central Ohio, and the scenery there is simply gorgeous--rolling hills, lots of farms, very idyllic. If you have a chance to visit, I highly recommend it. And while you're down there, make plans to come up to Middlefield too, its only a three hour drive from Holmes, and definitely worth it!
'Til next time,
Kathleen

Congratulations Kathleen and Jim on your 16 yrs of wedding Bliss
The Barn looks wonderful and is one more place on my amish wishlist.
Hope you have a wonderful time and enjoy each other.
Blessings, Erin O.

Congratulations on your anniversary, Kathy! I hope you and your hubby have a great time at the Barn Inn. Looks like a wonderful place and area to have a getaway AND learn more about the Amish.

Kathleen, I'm happy you enjoyed the Holmes County Amish Country. I live in Ohio and my husband and I go to Holmes County and surrounding counties about every 2 to 3 months. I love it. My dream is to buy a small farm around there, if only dreams come true......
Well, I have a few places I would recommend you to stay next time. I also would recommend a Amish Family the "Millers" would be a wonderful place to stay actually on a Amish farm. I'll get the info together and I'll send it to you, ok.
Blessings,
CarolG

Holmes county is definitely a place everyone should visit! I live about 1/2 hour north of there in Wayne county. You have to stop at Heini's Cheese factory, they have a sampling of all the cheeses they make...my grandsons & I go there quite often, they love it & the free samples!
