Feeling Very Out-of-Touch...

Hello everyone!

First of all...Happy Anniversary to Joe and Amy, and also to Jimmie and Kathleen!

I'm feeling very out of touch right now, so a big wave to Amy, Kathleen, and Barbara!  I feel like I haven't talked to you guys in forever.  We are in the process of moving.  Right now, the only thing left in my old house is my computer, so I'm sitting on the floor in my study typing this.  We don't have any Internet service at our new house yet, so I made the 25-minute trek back to the old house so I could check email and post to Amish Hearts.

I've thought a lot about my Amish friends these past four days.  While we have electricity, we don't have Internet, cell phones, or television.  We moved to the country and getting these things set up is taking some time and effort.  Last night, I sat on my porch and thought about my friends in Lancaster County.  I feel lost without all the modern conveniences.  But as I sat there staring into the woods, listening to the frogs and crickets, I had lots of time to think.  My conclusion:  I guess if you've never had these things it might not be a big deal, but it's amazing how dependent we become.

I'm going to keep this short.  I think hubby is ready to take the last few things to our new home.  I am never moving again....ha ha.  Bet we all say that.  I miss talking to everyone, but by the end of the week I should be all hooked up at home!

Have a super week!

Hugs, Beth

Beth, I know what it is to move. I have moved 60 times. My Dad was in the service. We started to move when I was a babyand never sdtopped until he retired from the service. It was especially hard when we became teenagers and had all our friends and had to leave one state to another.

A big wave back to you, Beth!

Moving isn't easy but from what you've told Kathy, Amy, and me, this sounds like a great move for you. All that quiet in the country ... sounds like you'll be able to write in peace and quiet.

Coincidentally, I signed the papers to put my house on the market today. It's still not in the condition it should be -- too often I write instead of clean. But I hope to start a new adventure elsewhere like you soon.

In the meantime, try to enjoy that time without e-mail and television and all the rest and listen to the frogs and crickets. It's a great return to the way we used to be without someone demanding our attention every second or watching too much television!

    Hugs!

    Barbara

Beth, good luck with the move! I'm wondering which part of the woods you are in, as you mentioned a 25 minute drive from the old place to the new; and we are 27.5 miles from Columbus in the woods on Sandy Creek between Rock Island and Garwood. Right now as I write this a deer just came to the porch looking for cat food, and I could see her through the window by my desk. Though we feed them corn and milo, there are about 16 regular deer coming to St. Francis Trail (and then some come to the porch!) looking for food. It is so dry and hot, and all the critters are hungry. Four raccoons were on the porch this morning, too, eating cat food. In fact, one was waiting at the door with the cats when I went out to feed! The woods should be a wonderful place for you to write, very quiet and peaceful; and we find there is always something new to see! In the last couple weeks we had wild turkeys and 2 wild ducks visit us! Keep on writing!!
