Another Giveaway!
Happy Monday! And a big CONGRATS to Barbara for selling her Amish series to Abingdon Press! YAY! Sending you a hug, Barbara!
We finally got moved. I was SO happy to see the Internet guy show up on Friday that I almost hugged him too! We're still not all the way unpacked, but I did find the items I brought back from Lancaster County to give away. Here's a little faceless doll and 'Favorite Recipes From the Riehls' Kitchen' cookbook. Just post a comment to this blog, and I'll draw a winner next Monday.
Hope you all have a great week!

Hi, I totally agree that moving can be challenging yet also be a blessing. I undertsand about losing then finding things that were packed. We moved six months ago and to this day i cannot find this beautiful picture my mother gave me of a building that held such fun memories for me as a child. I know i have it somewhere in my home, but of course I do not know where. The amish faceless doll is precious and a person cannot never have enough cook books especially if the person spends many hours cooking ...like me.

What a wonderful website, I love the Amish.. I recently went to In. and passed thru Berne, In on Hwy 27 and they have most beautiful Amish town, a wonderful bed and breakfast that has tours and camping. and they people are so nice and friendly.. They have beautiful home, super breads, jams, cheeses and knic knacs for sale with awesome quilts and other wonderfully made crafts to choose from.. I would love to live close to them and have my life simple like theirs.. Their faith is one to be wished for.. they are so confident it it and so trusting. Thank you for the wonderful stories you write and share with us, they show us the true life they wonderful people have and the dedication and drive they have inbred in them. And the simple lifestyle they live and foods they choose to eat would really help improve many of our own lives indeed.. God bless each of you as you continue to find new story ideas for us and write the wonderful words God has given you the gift of to share with us.. You are all in my heart and prayers always, and please know that almost always in some small way I take away something from one of your books to help me better my life.. sincerely, your faithful fan, Marti

I have moved and it isn't all that much fun. It starts out as a chance to organize and get rid of some things you really don't need and ends up to be "just a lot of hard work." It is so rewarding when things are unpacked and all is in order again. I would love to win one of these lovely items, you are very generous in giving these great gifts.

Beth, glad to hear you have your Internet access. I was wondering if you would have it "up and running" for your entry today. The little doll is precious, and it reminds me of a rag doll I won at a church bazaar in San Diego, CA in the early 1950's. I remember how special it was to me. Thanks for the delightful giveaways. Just seeing the items, whether one wins or not, is a special treat!

So glad that you are back on line. I have 2 big faceless Amish dolls, and I have 3 little bitty ones. I just love them and I display them in my bedroom which is mostly decorated in Amish. The cookbook would be great!

The faceless doll is so plain it is cute. I so wish that when I went to Washington, D.C. a few years ago, that I had taken the time to go thru southern Penn.on my return home and make at least a days stop in Amish country.
Can't wait for your next books and the "Amish Gathering" in December

Beth,
Congratulations on getting moved, that can be stressful. I have read both of your books and love them. I love the Amish, they really appeal to me. I would love to go to either Ohio or Pennsylvania to just go to the shops.

I absolutely love this website and your drawings and such. I have always been fascinated by the Amish in Pennsylvania and visit Lancaster on a regular basis. The atmosphere in Lancaster is so fun and relaxing.

Happy unpacking! I think unpacking goes much faster than packing especially if all the boxes are labeled and put in the rooms correctly.
This 4th of July, I am headed for the Lake of the Ozarks and I will get to go to some Amish shops.
Hope you have a wonderful 4th of July!

The doll is so cute. It reminds me of Laura Ingall's corn cob doll.

Hi Beth, Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge of Paradise with me. Our coming trip will be even better, due to your suggestions of bookstores, restaurants, etc. I can hardly wait to go to Gordonville Books, and Katie's Kitchen. After winning Amy's book, A Gift of Grace, I am now entering every contest you ladies have. You are truly generous people, sharing your talents and your Amish Crafts. I really am going to learn the craft of quilting- at least a start on our Sept trip to Lancaster.

I too have just finished a move and have felt like a slacker because all of the boxes aren't unpacked yet. Thank you for making my day - I'm not alone! I love all of your books. My dining room set is all hand made by the Amith community where I used to live. Their work is excellent and their prices are below retail stores so I'm always happy to give them my business. Please keep writing - you save the sanity of thousands of us!!!
