Hi everyone!

We’ve been asked to blog about the ACFW Conference, which is coming up in Denver September 17-20.  I’ve never been able to attend a large conference; however, it’s on my list of things to do when I have the opportunity.  Whether you’re a published author or an aspiring author, a good conference can give you inspiration and opportunities.

I’m going to give you the top five reasons to attend a large conference.

1.  Networking
When you attend a conference, you’re guaranteed to meet cool people.  You’ll make friends with other writers, both published and unpublished, and you’ll meet some movers and shakers in the publishing industry.

2.  Keynote Speakers
The ACFW Conference is featuring some fabulous speakers, including Debbie Macomber, a wonderful, multi-published, award-winning author.  I had the pleasure to meet Ms. Macomber and hear her speak when she came to Charlotte a couple of years ago.  She’s a fabulous person and very approachable.  I would love to hear her speech at ACFW!

3.  Workshops
The workshops offer a wealth of information to help you make your novel the best it can be.  There are levels, and you can pick whatever level is best for you.

4.  Editors & Agents!
Going to a large conference gives you the opportunity to meet with top-notch editors and agents.  If you have a book that you’re ready to query, then this is your chance to pitch it to your dream editor or agent.  Two of my Zondervan editors and my agent will all be at ACFW this year.  


5.  Fun!
Spending a few days surrounded both other writers is just plain fun!
