Sweeter Than Shoofly Pie
Continuing with the theme of reviews this week, I'd like to thank Amy Clipston for the lovely endorsement she wrote for An Amish Christmas.
Amy, an ECPA and CBD bestselling author (her debut novel A Gift of Grace is in stores now), wrote this about the collection of Amish novellas: "Authentic and lovely, An Amish Christmas is a treat just in time for the holidays! Wiseman, Fuller, and Cameron paint an authentic portrait of the heart of Lancaster County with their heart-warming stories of love and forgiveness.”
Thank you again, Amy, for those kind words. Beth, Kathy, and I spent a lot of time communicating about our inter-connecting characters and plot ideas and I hope readers will love our stories.
Many readers (especially those of us who used to wear glasses!) will identify with Miriam's story in A Miracle for Miriam. Kathy's heroine has her tender heart stamped on by Seth, a handsome boy she has a crush on in school. While the Amish don't have a culture of admiring physical beauty the way the Englisch do, Miriam still feels insecure and unattractive. When Seth comes back into her life, he's struggling with the effects of a car crash and realizes how much he has hurt Miriam. The story is very special, very warm, showing the triumph of love and faith.
Beth's story, A Choice to Forgive, follows. Lydia was once in love with Daniel but when he suddenly leaves the order and the town, she ends up marrying his brother, Elam. Now, after Elam's death, Daniel, Lydia's first true love, returns to the community. It becomes clear pretty quickly that they still have feelings for each other . But the mystery of why Daniel left years ago causes conflict between them. I really enjoyed how Lydia and Daniel navigated the tricky path of forgiveness and I think you will, too.
My story? Well, you'll have to wait for one of my fellow writers to hear about that ... I hope they enjoyed One Child.
Thanks again to Natalie Hanemann, our Thomas Nelson editor, for giving me the opportunity to write novellas for An Amish Christmas and An Amish Gathering. The collections were such a wonderful opportunity to work with two other writers I didn't know at the beginning and now feel have become my friends. We traded ideas, helped with plot problems, and commiserated with each other over daily writing challenges and personal problems.
I'm so looking forward to receiving the book soon in the mail and meeting readers at book signings.
'Til next week,
Barbara

Hi Karen,
Thanks for pre-ordering the book. I think it's a great idea -- no visiting a bookstore over and over to see if it's come in or find it's sold out. I pre-order books I want, too.
Hope we get to read it soon!
'Til next time!
Barbara
