A Dream Come True – My Amish Quilt

Hi everyone!

Congratulations to Beth, Kathy, and Barbara for the release of their novella collection, An Amish Christmas!  I’m so excited that they’ve hit the CBD best seller list!  I can’t wait to get my copy.

When I was in Paradise, Pa, last week one of my dreams came true.  The innkeepers at the Creekside Inn, Cathy & Dennis Zimmermann, had three Amish quilts that they had bought at auction and weren’t using.  I’ve longed for a king size quilt for a very long time; however, they were out of my price range.  Cathy had two king size quilts for sale at very reasonable prices, so I called my hubby and asked how he felt about my buying one.  When he gave me the authorization, I jumped for joy!

Dennis took photos of the two king size quilts, and I emailed the photos to my husband and mother, asking them to choose which one they liked best.  Happily, the three of us agreed on the same quilt.

Below you’ll find photos of my gorgeous quilt.  Lounging on the bed is our beloved Ashlee, the oldest of our three cats.  Ashlee is 12 years old and the sweetest of the bunch.  She’s the cat who is glad to accompany any of the family members to bed.  She also is tolerant of my younger son, who enjoys carrying her around and kissing her.

I’d also like to share an article discussing the popularity of Amish fiction.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

‘Til next time,

Amy

THAT is a gorgeous quilt! Not anything that I would think the Amish make. I guess I need to open my mind to thinking differently! Great buy!

Amy, you have a beautiful quilt! Good choice. I'm looking forward to your next book. I loved 'A Gift of Grace'. I'm so sorry I missed you at the signings in Charlotte. Maybe I can make it for the next book.

    Hi Amy,

Thanks for the congratulations on An Amish Christmas landing on the CBD bestseller list. And thanks for endorsing it.

Love your beautiful quilt. It is so comforting to sleep under a quilt. I have one that has blue and white shells -- not Amish, but it suits my Florida home.

    Have a great weekend!

    Barbara

Thanks, Barbara!  What I love most about the quilt is how it fits our bed.  We've never had a quilt that actually hung over the side and covered the mattress so well.

      Love,
      Amy

You sure picked a gorgeous quilt! I have so far bought two of these quilts and just love them. However, one hangs on a quilt rack at the foot of the bed and one hangs on a wall quilt rack. I know they are meant to be used but just haven't been able to make myself put them on the bed. My husband lays down for afternoon naps and I can't imagine him lying on one of these quilts so I have a much less expensive one on the bed. Maybe someday I'll be able to put mine on the bed. Idea: maybe I'll put them on the bed and take pictures of them - then put them back on the quilt racks.

    Hi Amy,
The quilt is beautiful. My husband and I travel to Lancaster, PA twice a year. I purchased my first quilt on our honeymoon 24 years ago and have since purchased 5 more. I cherish all of them for different reasons and use them all at various times during the year.
