Did Anyone Get Hurt in the Blast?

I’m the younger of two children, and my brother is eight years my senior.  When he was a teenager, his room was often a disaster area.  I remember my father once asking Eric if anyone was hurt in the blast, meaning his room looked as if a bomb had exploded in it.

If my father were at home with us instead of in a nursing home, I’m certain he would ask my husband and me if anyone was hurt in the explosion in our room.  A simple task of painting our son’s room has turned into a nightmare involving cleaning out an attic space, finding six wasp nests in the attic space, throwing out several boxes of junk, and then reorganizing the attic.  The attic is now complete, and we have cleared out my son’s room in preparation of the painting.  My son’s toys are blocking all but a small pathway in our room.

Tomorrow Joe (my hubby) is supposed to paint the room.  I’m hoping painting is complete tomorrow, and we can start to reorganize everything early next week.  I’m not a big fan of clutter, but I can tell you the cats think it’s fabulous.  Molly, the smallest cat, has been spotted prowling through the exciting boxes.  Oh, to have the leisurely life of a spoiled house cat…

Needless to say, I haven’t gotten much work done on book #3, A Promise of Peace, this weekend, but I did find out that A Gift of Grace has hit the CBA bestseller list for the fourth month in a row!  Thank you to all of you for picking up my book!

I hope you’re enjoying a relaxing weekend.  I’m looking forward to going back to work so I can relax!

Blessings,

Amy

Oh Amy! I feel your pain! We are doing the same exact thing with my daughter's bedroom! We live is a rather smallish house, so there isn't alot of extra space to put ANYTHING! So we've got her stuff in her bathroom, the hallway, the dining room, the livingroom & in our bedroom as well! WHAT a mess! It is driving me crazy! I hope we BOTH have our houses back in order--and soon!! Glad to hear your hubby feels up to painting! I'm still praying for you all.

Congratulations on the CBA list, Amy!

Oh, and aren't you brave to tackle home organization -- especially in a kid's room! Yikes!

Thanks, Barbara!!  Yeah, it's a HUGE undertaking, but it will be nice. I hope we can do another room next.  The whole house is painted off white, and I would love some COLOR!  Enjoy your day!

I feel your pain. We painted our home office this weekend, and my entire house looked like an explosion, with the office contents scattered everywhere. Luckily everything is back in place in my freshly painted blue and coral office. I hope the same for you this week.

Hi Amy, ohhhh yes I remember the room well. I would tell my son to close the door I couldn't look at it. He saw nothing wrong with it.
To live like a cat, sleep 16 hrs a day, have my staff wait on my as I need and then if I wanted play or take a nap. Yes that is the life, we should all take a lesson from a cat. Play, rest and enjoy life for all our days.
The diffrence between Cats and Dogs, you own a dog,,,, If you have a cat you are staff and you know it!! The wonderful gift they both give you is unconditional LOVE the most important lesson they can teach us. If we are a willing student ready to learn.
Enjoy this capter in your life Amy it will be one to remember in the years ahead. Often we want to rush through something to get to the next thing..In doing so we miss many gifts that were there in the moment. Only later when we look back do we see what we had missed. Slow down take in the whole picture and seeeeeeee what is really there. You may find a new store line or a chapter to the one you are writing now.
    Blessings,
    Erin

Wow, Erin!  Thank you for the wonderful note.  You are so right -- our three cats OWN us!!  You're right about enjoying this chapter of our life.  My dear friend at work just dropped her daughter off at college.  I'm dreading that, but we still have several years with our kids.  Pretty soon they won't want us in their rooms!

      Enjoy your day!

I am SO happy that others have clutter too. I thought that I was the only one!! My 19 year old has been home from university for the summer- and oh... what a mess!! We can't find the floor in her room!! And everywhere she goes there is a mess left behind. She goes back to school on Tue. That means Wed. we begin decluttering her room! What a joy! But... it also means, because she is gone... we get to go on our yearly visit to Lancaster County- where I am going to buy LOADS of Amish fiction books to bring across the border!! I can hardly wait for Sept. th, the day we leave. Even the 7 hour trip looks good at this point!!

Thanks for your note Karla!  I hope you enjoy your trip to Lancaster County!  Please let us know what you see while you're there!  You wouldn't believe the mess in our room right now.  Everything is out of my son's room except for the pieces of his bunk bed and his dresser. I told my hubby I can't get to my printer, and he said, "You don't need to be printing anything today."  Ha ha ha ha!  Have a great Sunday!
      Sincerely,

Wow, that's just like our house right now! We have been painting & decorating different rooms at a time! Our bedroom usually gets all the things that don't have a home or needs one! Our rooms a mess, the hall, my son's bedroom (he is in the army, so things end up there also). I've almost finished with our bed/bath except for the handles that go to our sink cabinet because they don't make the kind anymore. Of course, it couldn't have been that simple to walk into a hardware store and find them and put them in...
So, as you can tell, I know all too well what you are going through!
    Enjoy your day!
