Volleyball!
My oldest daughter Sydney is on her high school freshman volleyball team. This is her second year playing; she played in 7th grade but skipped the 8th grade season. We got a chance to watch her yesterday, and although her team lost it was an exciting match. As someone who plays pickup games of volleyball at a couple picnics a year, it was interesting to see how the game is really played.
So what does this have to do with the Amish? The Amish don't engage in formalized sports, but they love to get together and play games, with volleyball being one of the most popular. In my travels in Ohio Amish country I've seen young people playing volleyball and having a great time. They don't always just restrict their play to just the Amish--Englisch (or Yankee, depending on where you are) also join in the fun, as evidenced in this picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/teacherholly/896485019/
While I enjoy volleyball, its not my favorite sport. My favorite sport to play is tennis, and I love watching football! One of the best things about fall is spending a Sunday afternoon inside with popcorn and a football game.
What is your favorite sport to play or watch?
'Til next time,
Kathleen

Unfortunately, I don't have a favorite sport in which I participate, unless you want to count Leslie Sansone exercise DVDs! But I'm crazy about watching figure skating and rarely miss any competition or exhibition. I love the athletic skills combined with artistry.

I love to watch the PBR on Saturday and Sunday night. I have been to one live event, and I absolutely loved it.
There is nothing better and having my popcorn and watching the PBR on a week-end. My family knows not to plan anything on certain week-ends,because I will be watching tv.

Football is not only my favorite sport to watch but the only. I am so waiting for the beginning of the NFL tomorrow night and then very much looking forward to Sundays of football, crocheting, and reading.

The only sport that I do not like or understand is hockey. I will watch soccer if forced to, but do not understand what causes a foul. I only know when they score. But love football, have several favorite teams, baseball, go Cards, love highschool and college basketball, but don't watch the pros, too much showmanship, love to watch golf if Tiger Woods is playing, or Phill Mickelson. Like to watch track and field, gymnastics, skiing, skating, beach volleyball from the Olympics. I do also like to watch volleyball regardless if it is highschool or college.

My favorite sport to watch on TV is golf. Second is Dallas Cowboys football when they are playing spectacularly; and college football as well - it is more exciting. Favorite college teams: Baylor, U. of Texas and U. of Florida.
