Time
Here it is Friday again. Really, who is speeding up time lately? November is nearly here!
In November, I'll be making two trips for research and for fun. First on my list will be a very small Amish and Mennonite community in Pinecraft, Florida, not far from Sarasota where some northern Amish come to escape the cold. It's the setting in one of my upcoming Amish novels. Next will be another trip to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to visit family and friends.
So in the meantime, I'm trying to get a lot accomplished on my series for Abingdon Press. I so love the people -- er, the characters -- in my story. They are already so real to me.
Now that it's nearly November, it's time to start talking about An Amish Gathering, the second of the novella collections that Beth, Kathy, and I have coming out in December. Once again our characters are connected in the book and once again, the three of us had such fun writing the stories. One Child in An Amish Christmas is very special to me but I so enjoyed writing When Winter Comes for An Amish Gathering. Some time back, I wrote here on the blog that both my parents were twins. (I shouldn't say was -- my dad and his twin are gone but Mom and her twin are still perking along at 86+). So the subject of twins has always been fascinating to me. I love winter, too, and ice skating, and one day in the midst of a heat wave I was looking at photos of snowflakes and the story just came to me.
I wrote last week that Romantic Times gave An Amish Gathering 4 1/2 star review so I hope you'll want to check out what they saw in it. Beth, Kathy, and I hope you'll want to pre-order An Amish Gathering and enjoy reading it as you've written us you have enjoyed An Amish Gathering.
Hope you have a slow, relaxing weekend!
Barbara

Barbara,
Enjoyed reading your entry as usual. Hope your weekend is a slow, relaxed one too - for a change?
The 2 Nov trips planned are neat - do the Amish celebrate Thanksgiving, in any special way? (Sounds like more book material...)

Hi Judith,
Thanks for the kind words about the blog entry.
Yes, the Amish celebrate Thanksgiving but I'm going to keep you in suspense for now because it'll be a great topic for me to write about in this blog in several weeks. So thanks!
Blessings!

Hi Lois,
Thank you so much for writing to tell me that you got a copy of An Amish Christmas and loved it. That means so much to me. I enjoyed writing One Child and was so grateful God sent the idea to me...I hope you will enjoy An Amish Gathering as much.
Again, thanks for writing such a nice note.
Blessings,

Oh how I wish I could be with you on your upcoming trips. I hope ya'll have a great, safe trip. What a blessing that is that you are able to do that.
Think of us while you are gone.
I just love Amish Christmas; one of those books you can't put down and hate you get sleepy and have to save for another day. Look forward to An Amish Gathering as well. Thank you again.
