So...how's your week going?

The Amish are very devoted to their community. Not just their immediate or extended family, or even just their church district. The Amish don't hesitate to give a helping hand to someone who needs it, such as a barn raising or an auction. This was very evident at the special needs auction I went to a few weeks ago, and I found out there's another auction in Middlefield this month to benefit someone's son. One way the Amish foster community is by visiting. I read a quote by a young Amishman who said that visiting is the official pasttime of the Amish (I'm paraphrasing, but you get the gist).

Since Amish Hearts is our own little community, I thought we could "visit" with each other by sharing something fun, special, or exciting that happened this week. I'll go first. I met one of my deadlines this week, which took a huge load off my shoulders. I also spent a wonderful weekend with some good friends and my daughters in Mt. Vernon, OH. I had the chance to see Singing in the Rain for the first time, and found out that my youngest daughter adores musicals.

So...how's your week going?

'Til next time,
Kathleen

My mom is very close with a Bishop's family in her area and it's true, they are devoted and great visitors. We could learn from that aspect of their lives!

I'm launching a website and re locating my blog. My husband is a programmer but as soon as we went forward with this, he got hit with a huge workload. I'm thankful he's working, but it's ironic to launch a book giveaway when the comment function isn't functioning! Oh well, this too shall pass!

I enjoy your blog very much. Keep up the great work.

Last weekend I delighted in watching my twelve-year-old grandson's swim meet. I look forward to my four-year-old grandson's participation in the annual Book Character Parade at his school. He must carry the book that he has read and be dressed as one of the characters. I'm in rehearsal in a community orchestra accompanying a men's barbershop chorale for selections from "The Music Man" to be performed this coming Saturday.

This week my youngest daughter will compete in a regional swim meet for our area Special Olympics swim team. I am so proud of her.

I love Special Olympics. It gives her the opportunity to get off the sideline and participate at her abilities.
