Best Laid Plans and a Contest

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

On the way to my son and daughter in law's home for dinner, I had to make a side trip to the emergency room. I'm writing this from my room where they graciously invited me to stay for observation...I've been complaining that the sudden drop in temperature and allergies were aggravating my asthma...then, as I was driving today, I had to call them and say that I was having trouble breathing and was going to stop at the emergency room. It turned out not to be asthma at all ..so instead of that family dinner and delicious food I ended up with a health scare and an overnight observation and a lukewarm dinner of roast beef ... I didn't think to ask my grown children to bring me a plate of turkey day leftovers!

I'm actually sitting here feeling pretty grateful that it didn't turn out to be something worse than an accumulation of fluid in one lung. I have never had such wonderful, caring people watching over me.

I'm not looking for sympathy -- although I'd surely like your prayers that I get to go home tomorrow -- my son tells me one of my dogs has already gotten into mischief at the house.

No, I'd just like your understanding that you can't see a photo of Hilda, the Amish doll I bought at Yoder's Amish Restaurant Gift Shop for the contest I promised I'd post this week on this site. I was going to take another photo of her since the other one wouldn't upload to this website and now she's home and I'm not. BUT, Hilda did appear just fine on Facebook last week so I'm hoping that you can view her there. If you're not one of my friends, just ask and when I'm home tomorrow I'll welcome you. Don't worry, the contest will run all week. I'll choose a winner from a hat next Thursday at 9 p.m.

So, I hope that you'll enter the contest so you can have Hilda sitting with your Amish books on our bookshelf...by the way, she told me that her two favorites are An Amish Christmas and An Amish Gathering! :  )

Blessings!

Barbara (already feeling better)

My prayers are with you for a speedy recovery. Not a very good Thanksgiving Day, however, you can be thankful that it was not a more serious problem. I would love to enter your contest to win Hilda. She is a gorgeous example of Amish craftmanship. You are in my thought. Hope you get home today.

Thank you everyone for writing to say you hoped I'd feel better soon! I truly appreciated the messages and prayers.

Sometimes we need a "wake-up" call and I was very lucky to get one -- and to get such amazing medical providers who showed such caring...and determination to get me to do what I should to take better care of myself.

I didn't get to have turkey on Thanksgiving but I surely got a blessing that day.

Take care of yourselves, okay? And thanks again!

      Linda,

Yes, thanks for asking -- I'm home and feeling better!

Any bookstore can order the book for you or you can go to www.cbd.com or www.barnesandnoble.com or www.amazon.com I don't sell the book myself or I'd never have time to write!

I've entered you in the contest. Good luck! Maybe you'll send us photos of your Amish room some time...
