Christmas Cards, Christmas Trees, and Frisky Kitties!
Hi everyone!
I hope you’re enjoying your weekend! Kathy – I loved being Elfed! Thank you! Beth – That is so cool about the male readers!
And congratulations to Barbara on her gorgeous cover! I’m so excited to read her new series and I’m sure you are too.
Barbara mentioned the Christmas rush, and I’m definitely experiencing it too. Today my mom mentioned that Christmas is a week from Friday, and I said, “No! Don’t say that!”
Last night, I started my Christmas cards, and after two-and-a-half hours only got to the “Js.” I worked on them late this afternoon, took a break to take my boys to a Christmas party at their karate school, and then finished up the cards after they went to bed. Our grand total was 86 cards! Wow!
This afternoon we also put up our tree. However, since we have three cats, two of which are young, we only put up a limited number of unbreakable ornaments near the top. This evening while we were working on cards, we heard some crashes and found a few ornaments on the floor. Our youngest cat, Rico, is approximately eight months old. He and his cohort, Molly, who is about two years old, were in the tree before my husband had it completely assembled. At one point this evening, I heard a racket, and the two kitties were fighting in the tree while the tree shook. I’m not sure the poor tree will make it to Christmas in one piece!
Our last Christmas tradition will be the outside lights. I would love to start on them tomorrow, but it’s supposed to rain. I hope I can help my hubby put them up sometime this week.
You may know that the Amish don’t put up trees or decorate as elaborately as we do. They may put some greenery or a poinsettia in their home. They also send out cards, and my Amish friend sent me a lovely homemade card last year. They do not celebrate Santa, and their gifts are not lash like most of us Englishers.
What are your Christmas traditions? Are you feeling the holiday rush?
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Amy

I finished reading An Amish Christmas this week, and enjoyed each story. It was a shock to me to read that the Amish don't have Christmas trees, but I really like their way of doing First and Second Christmas. In my family, First Christmas is basically Christmas Eve, and Second Christmas would be Christmas Day. My favorite part of Christmas is the midnight candlelight Christmas Eve service at church.

We haven't put up our tree yet. My son doesn't think its worth it since money is tight. We may just decorate the house. I was thinking about just putting up a little itsy bitsy artificial tree on Christmas eve while he is sleeping and put his gifts around that. We do not celebrate Santa either. I was always afraid if I told him there was a Santa later he might say well you lied to me about Santa why should i believe you about Jesus. So we have always just made it about Jesus birthday. Although I told him the story of St. nick and we did have st.nick and Santa decorations in the house.
Hope your tree makes it till Christmas
