A Season of Miracles...

Good Morning, Friends --

A month ago today, I was in ICU at a hospital in Houston, crying with my best friend of thirty years as we watched her 24-year-old son fighting for his life.  Looking back, my faith in the power of prayer was strong, but it was hard not to have doubts that Brian would survive.  After being hit by a drunk driver, he had no kidney function, his liver was failing, his entire body was broken, and the prognosis was not good.  Brian hit prayer lists all over the country.  His wife delivered a healthy premature baby boy (Braiden) while Brian fought to live in a hospital an hour away.

It is with heartfelt gratitude that I thank each and every one of you who prayed for Brian. As a parent, the fear is immeasurable when something like this happens, and Brian's continued recovery is true testament to the power of prayer.  My agent has a saying...it's even on her business cards..."Miracles happen to those who believe."

Thank you to a very special person whom I asked to pray for a miracle for Brian.  Renee' had a strong feeling that I needed to contact this person to pray for a miracle for Brian.  The two women had never met, but yet seemed to have some sort of bond from far away.  You know who you are...and thank you with all my heart.

Today, it is with tears in my eyes and a smile on my face that I'm able to say that Renee' and I will be meeting for our annual Christmas lunch.  Brian has been moved from ICU to an Intermediate room.  His recovery will be long, and he will eventually need a kidney transplant and lots of rehabilitation.  Last week Brian spoke the only words he has said since his accident.  "I want to go home."

Today, the power of prayer is utmost on my mind.  Miracles abound, and I believe I've been blessed to have witnessed more than one in my life.

Do you believe in miracles?

I hope you all have a blessed Christmas!  May it be a celebration of what this season really means.

Beth

    Beth,
Being a nurse, I have seen many miracles. From a young woman with a bad lung cancer who had members of her church come and they had a continous prayer session going 24-7 to an elderly lady who said she asked God to let her see one more Christmas and then she would be ready to go when he called her home. The young woman's church family stood in her room and prayed continously even as we nurses moved around in the room taking care of her. Six months later when they should have been burying her, she walked down the hall to the nurses station to tell us that the docs told her she was cured. The little elderly lady died the 2nd day of Janurary and died with a smile on her face. I truly believe in angels among us. Not only human ones, but those that guide and protect us. I was in a very bad car accident several yrs ago. My children and I survived a triple roll over when we were hit from the side. We walked away with bumps and me with 7 staples. The other car, the man lived for a year in a nursing home unable to communicate. I had an angel clip on my sun visior. It was never found at the accident site or in the car. I feel she did her job and returned home to heaven a job well done. Merry Christmas to all

I was wondering about Brian the other day and the wife and baby. With Rehab, he will be almost new. God is good. If we would only learn to put our concerns and problems in God's hands and do as our Amish brothers and sisters do, believe that it is God's will.

Beth, That is wonderful news. I too believe in miracles because I am one also with God prolonging my life when they gave me only 6 months to live in Nov. of 2007, so I do believe and I am so happy this has happened for Brian and his family. God Bless you all.
