Happy New Year!
Hi everyone!
I hope you had a fun and safe New Year’s with family and friends. I know many folks are putting together their list of resolutions. While I’m not one for resolutions, I do have a few goals, hopes and dreams for 2010. My most important wish, the one closest to my heart, is that my husband will have a kidney transplant and be well in 2010.
As many of you know, my husband needs a second kidney transplant. The kidney he received from his brother in 2004 failed, and he’s been back on dialysis since July 2008.
I feel blessed to have the wonderful support of friends and family, and I’m thankful for the many angels who are seeing us through this challenging time in our lives, especially the wonderful staff at my husband’s dialysis center. Joe endures dialysis three days per week in 4.5-hour segments. Dialysis rules his life, and one some days, he’s very ill. We’re blessed that my mother lives with us and is a huge help to our family, especially our children.
Joe is currently on lists at three transplant centers, and we pray daily that a matching kidney will become available. I’m also signed up to give a kidney in exchange for one for him since I’m not a match for him.
This coming week we’re traveling to Hampton Roads, Virginia, where my hubby has an appointment at Sentara Norfolk General to complete the requirement in order to be put on the list. While we’re in town, I plan to do a book signing in Virginia Beach, and I’m looking forward to seeing many special friends. If you’re in the area, please come by to see me. Here are the details:

So sorry to hear about your husband Amy. I am a retired dialysis nurse and I know how difficult living on dialysis can be. We can only pray that he gets a transplant soon. I know that the waiting list is long. People should be made more aware of the need for organ donations,

Amy,
The hospital you so peak of is where my son was born while I lived in Va briefly. We are now back in PA where I was born in raised in PA Dutch country. I wish I could be at your books signing. If I didn't already have plans I would have considered coming down that way to spend time.
May God bless you and your family overly and abundantly this year.
