Winner, Another Contest, and Book Club!

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! First I have to thank all of your for your wonderful spring cleaning tips! We'll be moving this June and they will be very helpful as we get our house ready for sale (and just plain clean!) The winner of the contest is Carla! Carla, please send me your snail mail address and I'll pass it on to Mindy, who will send you an autographed copy of her book. Congratulations!

I'm excited to announce that a Book Club has been created on www.amishliving.com. This is a great opportunity for those of you who have never been to a book club meeting (that would be me) or have been to meetings but would like to discuss an Amish fiction book with people from other areas of the country and Canada. The first Book Club selection is An Honest Love. To join the Book Club go to www.amishliving.com, click on the Community Tab, then on the Groups, and it will take you to the Book Club group. You'll need to join the Book Club group in order to be involved in the discussion. The discussion won't start until March 31, so there's plenty of time to read the novel.

To celebrate, I'm giving away An Honest Love here on Amish Hearts. To enter, tell me who your favorite character of all time is. This can be from any book you've read in your life by any author. I'll start--my favorite character of all time is Michael Hosea from Redeeming Love, which I've read a gazillion times. He's the ultimate hero, faithful, patient, loving--he embodies all the aspects of not only romantic love, but unconditional love (and bravo to Francine Rivers for writing such a wonderful character!)

I'll announce the winner next week. Stay tuned and good luck!

'Til next time,
Kathleen

Gosh! How can I pick just ONE favorite character? I love your pick, Kathleen! I think mine might be Father Tim in the Mitford books written by Jan Karon. Loved all of those!

I remember my favoriate character now. It was Leah Ebersol of the Abram's Daughters series by Beverly Lewis. Because it was a 5 book series you had a chance to really become involved in the peoples lives. It was interesting that for weeks after that I kept thinking about the characters of the book as if they were real people. It took a while for me to remember they were just fiction books. That is the first time I have ever had that happen. When I went through taht series I thought Beverly Lewis was my favorite author because of that series. But I am not so sure now especially with the current series I'm reading. I don't know that I could ever name a favorite author. Oh yes I could. The Lord God Almighty. He is the Author of life!

It would have to be Jo March, from Little Women. I have read and reread that story, and the other 3 that go with it, many times. I always wished I could be brave, like Jo was.

I love Redeeming Love! Our book club read that as our second book, when we first started as a group. Our first book was Sophie's Heart by Lori Wick. I will have to say that "Sophie" is my favorite character! She is the most humble person, and she talks to God ALL of the time. She prays about everything she does, even washing dishes Every time I read it, I think: I want to be Sophie!

My favorite character is Laura Ingalls Wilder. I grew up on her books and now live near Mansfield, Mo.

I have too many favorite characters to choose, however, if I HAVE to, I think it may be Lillian in Beth Wiseman's book, Plain Perfect. But every time I read Amish fiction, I tend to love the main characters, so that one is just one of many.

Hmmm, favorite character? Kathy, that's so hard, seeing as I love so many! But if I had to choose just one, I'd probably have to say Ashley Baxter from Karen Kingsbury's Baxter Family Drama.
