Authors Unite For A Good Cause!
Yesterday was the benefit for Brian Carter to raise money to help with his immediate medical expenses and rehabilitation. I think most of you know that Brian is the son of my best friend, Renee', who was hit by a drunk driver this past November. Brian needs a kidney transplant, still can't walk, and has a long road to recovery. Friends and family united to put together a fund raiser to help Brian and his new family. His baby, Braiden, is four months old and was born while Brian was in the hospital.
I donated the Daughters of the Promise series for the silent auction and pondered about what else I could donate. Then, I wondered...hey, maybe some other authors would like to donate a signed copy of a book for this event, so I posted the request on Facebook. WOW! I spent all last week running to the mailbox to meet the mailman to get all the packages pouring in. My request was last minute, so some authors even sent the books FedEx. AMAZING the amount of love that poured through the postal system this past week! It's impossible to donate to every cause, and I donate to as many as I can. And I am not alone! Authors I know came through, and those I've never spoken to on Facebook stepped up and sent books, so I was able to make some new friends along the way. One author (NY Times Bestseller) sent 9 of her books and sent me some jams and jellies. I cried when I opened that package! And I cried when I left the benefit yesterday as I hugged Brian and he said, "I love you, Beth." He is a miracle. And as you all know...this girl believes in miracles.
My camera malfunctioned, but I was able to get one pic of me, Renee' and Brian.

Special thanks to my co-authors on this site for donating books AND...to my new assistant, Janet, and her husband, who donated a 3-night stay in their condo in Port Aransas -- it brought a whopping $900!! She's a keeper, that Janet!!

Have a blessed week!

Beth, how wonderful to hear of this great outpouring of love for Brian! The Lord must have inspired you to contact the authors, and what a blessing that they responded so warmly. I keep Renee and her finacee, Brian, Amanda, and Braiden on my daily prayer list, and I continue to thank God for all He has brought them through.
