Toot Your Own Horn for a Chance to Win An Honest Love

It's toot your own horn day here on Amish Hearts. As Beth mentioned on Monday we've all been incredibly blessed, not just professionally, but personally as well. I got some great news today--A Man of His Word and An Honest Love are on the CBA best-seller list for the second month in a row! Thanks to all of you for getting the books and spreading the word! On a personal note, its been so great to connect with all of you on Amish Hearts, Amish Living, facebook, and through email. I feelĀ that together we'veĀ built a nice community of writers, readers, and people who are interested in and appreciate the Amish.

In that spirit of community, I'd like to know how you've been blessed this week. It's time to toot your own horn! Do you have some great news to share? An answer to prayer? An exciting event coming up? Everyone who leaves a comment will be entered to win an autographed copy of An Honest Love. I'll announce the winners next Wednesday. I'm looking forward to hearing all your good news!

'Til next time,
Kathleen

God has blessed me today by giving me something I've desired for a long time--a china cabinet. My husband and I will celebrate our 25th anniversary in June. When I found this beautiful piece of furniture in a flea mall today, he quickly said, "That would make a nice 25th anniversary gift." The reason this is so delightful is that he does not like to buy gifts for any occasion. He depends on me to pick out my own gifts. God is good...all the time!!!

I consider myself to be blessed everyday. But this week I was especially blessed. I have a friend, Helen, who is 90 and the one who taught me about the Amish way. I call her after work each night to see how her day has gone. Sunday night her phone rang busy and Monday night her phone rang busy. Tuesday morning it was the same and I got so worried I drove out to her house to make sure she was ok. I found out that her power cord was just unplugged from the wall. That was a blessing to me to find she was ok.

The Lord has been so good to my family! My dad has Stage IV Malignant Melanoma and the doctor thought it might have moved to the brain because of dads recent complaints and symptoms. The doctor ordered a MRI and the results were negative (a normal 50 year old brain). The cancer is shrinking or is now absent in the various areas of the lymph nodes. Dad is doing so much better this week than he was last week!!! Then, my niece was accepted into the Teacher's For America on Monday!!! God is Good All the Time!!!

I have been blessed it seems everyday. My oldest sister was in ICU late March. At first we thought it was a stroke, but come to find out, it was very low sodium, which can mimick a strocke. Anyway, she is home now and feeling GREAT.

My husband and I have been more than blessed!! We have been praying for and looking for a "new" house for the past 2 years. We were waiting for the size and location at the right price, Well, God SURELY blessed us! We found the house we wanted - sold ours in only 6 days, our offer on the other house was accepted the next day and we are packing like crazy. PLUS, we found out we are going to be GRANDPARENTS!! Our daughter and her husband, who pastor a church, are blessing us with a grandbaby in early December! God is faithful!

My children have found a suitable place in Ohio for the party they are planning for our fiftieth anniversary party this summer. We were wed in Ohio, but live in Florida and my family members are in many different states. I am blessed with a wonderful husband and four children who love the Lord and have also married Christians.

Due to economic cut backs, I lost my job of 21 years back in September. I started a new job in January. Yesterday was Administrative Professional's Day and my new boss bought me flowers, a card and lunch. What a blessing to start over and find a job that truly appreciates your efforts.

This may not seem like much to you all, but we are an Army family. We received orders in Sept. to report May 7th to Okinawa, Japan. Due to some medical issues with our son, we have been waiting to get orders so that me and the children can go with my husband. We have been stressing not knowing anything and the move about two weeks away. Yesterday a prayer was answered! We were able to get an extension on our orders!! We now report May 31st!! So hopefully that will give the Army enough time to decide if we can all go or not! Also, my husband is getting to spend all his days with us while we wait!!

I woke up to a bad day yesterday. Nothing worked, I was running late, I forgot to pack my lunch, and I knew I would never make it to work in time. I sat down and prayed simply that God would join me for just a minute. I hadn't even finished praying and my boss from work called and asked me to run an errand for her before I came it. She said for me to run the errand and it wouldn't matter if I came in late. An answered prayer!! It turned out that not only did I make it out of the house...(haha), but I got the errand finished and was only 5 minutes late. God is so good!!!

I ended up in ER on Sat. due to swelling and pain in my right leg. There was also burning. By time I got to the ER my blood pressure was 203/106 dangerous. They were afraid I had blood clots or it was my heart but praise God it was neither. Ultra sound showed no blood clots. Blood work showed no heart problems or diabetes. They found no tears or breaks in my knee. I had a sciatic nerve pinched - probably a disc slipped sitting on it. I was already scheduled for a procedure on Monday on left side. In ER they flushed out all the inflammation on left side so Monday they did a nerve procedure on the right side. My back MRI is a mess and without a miracle I face many more problems. But I'm thankful for the things they didn't find on Sat.

e serve an awesome God. I had really been sick for at leaset 3 weeks and then broke two teeth eating an apple and they got infected. I was not a happy person but God answers prayers and he brought me through some of the roughest weeks that I have had in a long time. I can't thank God enough for his healing power.
