Happy Mother's Day!
This is a special weekend! Tomorrow we’ll celebrate our mothers, and those of us who are mothers will be honored by our children.
On Thursday I attended a Mother’s Day program at my younger son’s school, and he showered me with wonderful homemade gifts and sang songs to me. It was fabulous; I had tears in my eyes!
While I love Mother’s Day because of my sons and husband, I also love celebrating my own mother: Lola.
My mother and I are very close; she’s my best friend. I’m blessed because she lives with my family and me, and she takes care of my children while my husband and I work. She’s like a second mother to my boys, and they often slip and call her “Mom” instead of “Nana.” She takes them to school and helps them with their homework. She showers them with hugs and kisses, as she did my brother and me when we were little.
She has been my greatest support throughout my husband’s illness. She’s kept the boys on a regular schedule each time my husband has been in the hospital or when we’ve had to travel to visit transplant centers.
My mother has also been one of my loudest cheerleaders for my books. Before I became published, she encouraged me to keep trying and not give up my dream of seeing my name on the cover of a book. Since I have become a published author, my mother has continued to cheer me on as well as help edit and plot books. I wouldn’t be able to balance my insane schedule of working full-time and writing without her.
Tomorrow I’ll celebrate the blessings of being a mother and also celebrate my best friend, my mother, Lola. Below is one of my favorite photos of her and me.
Happy Mother’s Day!
Until next time,
Amy

What a great tribute to your mother. Sorry I had to miss your signing in Indian Trail today.
