A Double Contest! Win A Time to Love AND An Amish Christmas, Expanded Edition

I'm so thrilled to announce that I received my box of author copies of A Time to Love, the first book in the Quilts of Lancaster County series!!

I was so busy writing the third book of the series last night I didn't get to write my blog and now I'm glad: when my neighbor came over to chat today she pushed the box into the house. I hadn't heard it being delivered. We immediately had to open it and look the book over. She thinks it's lovely and I do, too! Abingdon Press did an amazing job on the cover and everything concerned with the production. Thank you, Barbara Scott!!! I hope that readers will enjoy it!

The book has already gotten some wonderful reviews and I'll be sharing more of them in future blogs. I also have some wonderful quilt-related gifts I can start offering in contests. But in the meantime, this is the first time I can offer a copy of the book. Actually, I'm going to choose two winners.

Yesterday, I received my box of An Amish Christmas, Expanded Edition, by Beth Wiseman, Kathleen Fuller, Kelly Long (new story), and me. (What a week, huh?!) By entering a comment you can with a copy of BOTH books.

So write a comment and enter the contest (on www.AmishHearts.com) and I'll announce the winner next week.

Now, back to writing A Time for Peace, the third book in the series. Loving it! I stayed up until 5 a.m. this morning because I just couldn't stop. Am tired today but happy.

Blessings!

Barbara

Make sure you make time to eat at Dienners. Their breakfast is the best around. With coffee ,it is less than $6. It is a buffet and the best one there. And, don't forget to try the shoofly coffee cake. I loved it so much they gave me the recipe. I advise you get there before 8a.m. especially if you go on Saturday, they are well known and loved and the lines go out the door.

Thank you for the many enjoyable books you write for us to read, for without you our lives would be less meaningful. Keep up the good work, and until next time may God bless you.

Probably my favorite Christmas memory may seem kind of hokey for some, but it didn't take it long to become a tradition. When I was younger, we always got together with my dad's side of the family on Christmas Eve and with my mom's on Christmas Day. One year we went to my dad's sister's house for dinner and she had made Brown Sugar Pies, but they were all gone by the time my dad went to get a piece. (They were my father's favorite pie of all time.) The following year, just as soon as we went into her house, my dad entered the kitchen where all the "womenfolk" were finishing up dinner and he stuck his right pointer finger in his mouth and then sunk it right in the middle of a Brown Sugar Pie. He said, "Let's see someone eat some of that one now". Of course, no one touched it, except for my dad, and he got to take the leftovers of that one home. From that year on, whenever we arrived at my aunt's house for Christmas Eve festivities, she would greet my dad at the backdoor where he would stick his finger in his mouth and sink it in a pie. Everyone would be standing around to watch and laugh when he did it. My father has since passed away, as well as my aunt, but that is probably one of the best Christmas memories I have and it always brings tears to my eyes when I think of it. Every now and then, I make a brown sugar pie, but I really can't eat much of it because I always think of my dad and end up crying.

One of my favorite Christmas memories was one when I had to work a 12 hour day shift and my family cooked dinner and brought it to work. We set the table in a conference room (Christmas tablecloth and all) and all had dinner together. My family made me feel special by not wanting to have dinner w/o me.
