Dog Days of Summer
Last week I asked if fall had arrived in your part of the country. I loved hearing about how the leaves are changing and the temperatures are cooling off. Alas, not in Arkansas! The forecast this week: 90 degrees and above. The weathermen here have been talking about how we're approaching the record for 90 degree days this year. We've had over 100 of them! I'll admit I'm glad I've only been here for about sixty.
We really are experiencing the dog days of summer. So in that spirit, I thought I'd share a few pictures of my dogs. If you're friends with me on facebook you've seen these photos before, so pardon the repeat. My dogs are the only ones in my family who cooperate for pictures (those of you with teenagers know what I mean!)

Its amazing how our pets become such an integral part of our families. The same goes for the Amish. Caring for their animals is high priority, whether its farm animals, their horses, or their pets. Pets bring comfort and joy to our lives, and on really bad days we feel they're the only ones who will stand by us, other than God, of course. I believe that's why God created our furry friends, to be there when we're lonely and feeling down, and to make us laugh and remind us to have fun.

Here are three of the four- Emma (Bichon Frise): she's the oldest at 15. This is pretty much her standard pose 24/7, but she's earned the right to take it easy. Bella (Yorkie) is almost a year old and loves to cuddle. Biscuit (lab/beagle-Leagle? Bab? I don't know what that mix is called) is seven and loves to be outside. Except right now, because its boiling out there. Life is much better lying on the bed in front of the cold fireplace!

This is Mollie, who is a Shorkie (Shi-Tzu/Yorkie). She's a year and a half and loves to lay on the backs of the furniture flat on her belly. We haven't figured out why just yet--we think she likes to spy!

Biscuit, being too cool for school.

Bella. One of the rare moments she got the bed to herself.
'Til next time,
Kathleen

Love this post Kathy!

Fellow Arkansan, girl you are not kidding it is hot. But there is rain in the near future and Friday it is suppose to be cool. It was happen here in Western Arkansas first. Can't wait for those 70's. We are having an Oktoberfest to benefit two organizations that help crippled children in our area on Oct. 8-9 here in Ft. Smith. Everone is welcome to come and have a good time. There is no charge to get in. Money is made off of food, beverage and games. Great umba band to sit and listen to.

I have a cockapoo and two cats. Use to have my sons Yorkie, but he snapped at the grandchild, so he went back to my son. I had to put down my companion of 7 years about 18months ago. Still seems like yesterday, and at the same time, seems like a long time ago. I still miss him, but Cubbie fills that void.

Kathleen,
Yes, it has been hot here in Oklahoma also. I am just ready for some 60 degree days PLEASE. Hehe. I just wanted to post that I have 2 cats and they run the house too. One of mine likes to lay on the furniture also, isn't that funny how they are?
Take care in this Heat,
Debbie
