A Place of Peace

Thank you so much to all of you for your thoughts, prayers, love, and condolences this past week.  My family and I are so thankful for all of the love and outpouring of sympathy we received after losing my father.  Although he was ill for a very long time, it was still a shock to lose him Sunday night.

On Monday, my editor Becky called me and told me that there was still time to change the dedication in my upcoming Kauffman Amish Bakery book, A Place of Peace.  I had originally dedicated the book to my grandparents, and the Advance Reader Copies feature a dedication to them.  However, I decided to change the dedication to my father's memory.  The title is so very appropriate for him, since he finally did find peace after suffering 16 years after a massive stroke.

I received an advanced copy of A Place of Peace on Thursday, and I carried it in my purse to my father's memorial service on Friday. Last night Barbara Cameron told me that A Place of Peace received a four-star review in Romantic Times.  I'd like to share the review below along with a photo of the advanced copy.

Again, thank you for your love.  I'm so blessed to be surrounded with such wonderful friends.

Sincerely,
Amy

Review from Romantic Times: A Place of Peace
4 stars Compelling, Page turner

This is the third book in the Kauffman Amish Bakery series. Readers who haven't read the previous two books may be confused as the characters' histories are not really explained. The love between Timothy and Miriam is apparent from the first time they see each other again. The author adheres to the old Plain traditions, both in relationships and the way of life for the Amish community. This is an entertaining story of Amish life, loss, love, and family.

SUMMARY: When a heartbreaking accident happens in Miriam Lapp's Amish community, she blames herself and leaves for a new life. Four years later she gets a call that her mother has died and rushes back. Miriam mourns her mom, as well as the life she left behind--which includes her one true love, Timothy Kauffman. Can your first love ever be forgotten, and can sins of the past really be forgiven?

Amy, that was so thoughtful of your editor to suggest changing the dedication of your next book to your dad!

It's sad to lose a parent but maybe it will help for you to remember that he sounds like he was a good dad. And that is something to be grateful for.

    Love,

    Barbara
