Patterns of Use
I recently came across a reading which listed "Patterns of Acceptable Use" for Amish Farm Equipment....Stay with me, I know, sounds boring...But....some items are: Forklifts, Hay balers, Silage Blowers, okay...enough....It was really the title of the article that got my attention more than the contents because it made me think about the way I use...that's USE....things and whether or not I do so in an "acceptable pattern." I know that quilts are not covers in my house; they're wall decor (much to my husband's chagrin) and I hang up butter molds, ladles and cookie cutters. I hate to cook but decorate with food items...hmmmm? Then I thought of my spiritual life...Do I have a pattern of use of prayer...yep, but it's sometimes not to praise but to beg for something I know, in my heart, would probably not be good. I use my spirituality to worship God at church but how often is it my daily "farm equipment?" How often is it 'acceptable?' These are deep questions and personal ones, but they make me think....I just wanted to share with you all that you might evaluate the patterns of use in your own lives, and I just had the thought...Don't use people...Use patterns of love!

Kelly

Thank you for the reminder. I think we all fall into the pattern of praying only when we need something and not talking to God on a regular basis.
