Summertime
Okay, here in Florida we start complaining about summer earlier than people in other parts of the country, but really, temps in the nineties for the past few weeks? Already? C'mon!
I've already started burrowing in my house with the air conditioning on and the occasional bowl of ice cream. Butter pecan, of course. I am happily stuck in a rut with it. And huddling with the dogs on the bed when we have these pretty amazing afternoon thunderstorms. That's where we were on Friday when we had an amazing one where lightning hit the transformer in the back yard. Now I don't have a small yard but I surely don't have one big enough to have a transformer blow and not shake from it. Fortunately there are such things as laptops with batteries so I didn't lose any writing time but I surely did miss the air conditioning during that time. I'm currently writing a book about a young woman who travels to Pinecraft, Florida, a wintertime vacation escape for some Northern Amish. She's having some great adventures although at a nice time in Florida -- winter, when it's cooler. Yes, right now I miss winter.
What do you do to beat the heat when summer tries to melt you in your part of the country? What's your favorite ice cream flavor? I have it on good authority that the Amish love ice cream -- especially on top of some dessert whether it's fresh berry cobbler in the summer or pumpkin pie in the fall.
Have a great week!

No matter how many times you eat it, butter pecan always tastes so good. We live north of Dallas and it may hit 105 on Friday. A few moments ago, I was on Amazon.com looking for cooling pillows.
The air conditiining does help but we are sparing with it since it is so expensive to run. So, I am looking for more ideas to cool off too!

When I am not working I sit in my recliner with the A/C on and read. Of course the reading part takes up most of my free time. My favorite ice cream is a couple, choc peanut butter and strawberry shortcake.

Here in Texas we usually go outside late in the afternoon if possible to avoid the heat during the day. Being close to Brenham Texas the only ice cream that we eat is Blue Bell !! Of course cookies and cream is the favorite.

If I'm buying ice cream, it's butter pecan or black walnut. However, my all time favorite is my papaw's homemade vanilla on my mamaw's strawberry cobbler. I'm from Mississippi, and the temperatures are staying in the 90's.
