Why Beth Wiseman Is A Great Writer...
You all may have the idea that all the Amish authors hang out, try jam recipes, and wear bonnets for fun...(Actually, I wish we did this!) But the truth is that each person is usually so involved in her own writing that it's hard to connect. So, one way to connect is through the reading of other authors' works. Well, I recently had the true privilege of reading Beth Wiseman's "The Wonder of Your Love," and I have to say that the old, sleeping English teacher in me woke up and jumped for joy--truly. Here is a novel that runs on great text, realistic dialogue, true longing and, most importantly, God's Hand ...but then....there's the SUBTEXT...(this is where former students' eyes would start to glaze over, but stay with me...) The subtext, or that subtle message embedded within the actual words of the novel itself is very difficult to write, and frankly, I'd say that a lot of novels have no true subtext, but I discovered that Beth's writing is as strong at its underbelly as it is on the page. I won't give away the story, but the subtext is all about forgiveness. So, you think okay, forgiveness...But I'm talking a subtext that actually moves the reader, motivates the reader to evaluate the concept and application of forgiveness in actual life. So, you say again, so what? So, as an English teacher, as a reader, as a Christian, it has been only on rare occasions that I have been moved to CHANGE because of fiction's subtext...think Charles Dickens, Joseph Conrad, Flannery O'Connor....think Beth Wiseman. Turn her books upside down, shake them, and out falls a reason to face the day, a choice to tranform, the potential for new life. You cannot buy this talent nor frankly, can it be taught. It is a gift from God and Beth Wiseman has it. So, my point... read her...yes, by all means, watch her---NY Times Bestseller list in three years guaranteed, but love her because she gives you the opportunity to become something more than what you are...
Peace,
Kelly

Finally someone who so eloquently expressed what we all feel when we read a book written by Beth Wiseman. I love all Beth's books and can hardly wait till the next one comes out. I am anxiously waiting the arrival of the second in the Series of Canaan. My only complaint is that Beth does not write as fast as I can read, but the wait is well worth it.

I enjoy all Amish books, but Beth Wisemanand Kelly Long are right up there with Beverly Lewis. I go nowhere without a book and 99.99% of the time it is Amish. I could never be Amish because of the Ordnung and the plain way of life (I like my modern conveniences too much) but I do admire their simple way of living. Thank you to all of you who choose to write about the Amish People and their way of life. PS I love the recipes of the Amish.

Kelly, what a delightful evaluation you made of Beth's writing. I, too, feel the same when I read her books. They are so inspiring and uplifting and I can see God at work through her. Due to family circumstances, I'm running behind in my ordering and reading, but I know how much I enjoyed your first book and plan to get busy and order your second book, as well as pre-order on Beth's and others coming out. Dear ladies, please keep writing and spreading God's love!

I am so glad that someone else has seen the TRUE Beth Wiseman. She is a prize to behold with her writing talents and upon meeting her in person, is as true to her faith and talents as her books portray. She is one of a kind. I was so glad I got to meet her in person and go to a book signing, because you observe her sincerity and kindness that is in every novel. I , too, predict , she is going to the BEST sellers list before long. Beth deserves all this praise and more. She is still a real life person, with real life problems , but uses herself to show others the way to use their abilities.Congratulations, Beth!!

Thank you Kelly for such an awesome blog about Beth. I love reading her books and interacting with her on facebook. Just to look at her picture and read her posts is such a blessing. If you look at her smile and her eyes you will know what a true gift she is and how deep her faith is. Her writing is absolutely the best. i get so lost in her books that I don't want to do anything except read. God has given Beth such a wonderful gift and by gifting her He has also gifted all of her readers. Thank you Beth and thank you God for Beth.

I absolutely agree! She has such a way with words. Each time I begin reading the last page on one of her books, I panic! I don't want the story to end.

I think Kelly and Beth are both wonderful, and talented people from all I've read..but this article by Kelly about Beth is so right on. I honestly have never had the pleasure of meeting Beth in Person, but my children are friends with one of her sons and I feel like I know her simply because of all they talk about. She is Definitely an amazing person with a lot of talent in many areas. Beth has much to be thankful for, as she has been blessed with a wonderful gift. Her Blessing of writing talent in turn has blessed myself and my family as well as many other fans..by making available to us some AWESOME READING MATERIAL. ;D Obviously by my message you can see I do not have that talent. lol. But I wanted to say the best way I know how.." Thank You Beth for all you do..I for one cannot WAIT to read the book "I NEED YOU NOW"." (I haven't seen that one quite yet) Best Wishes for your continued success as an Author! Sincerely yours,
Shari Christensen Loehr & Family
