Change
We all know the old saying about how nothing stays the same...and how about how if you want to complain about the weather just wait 5 minutes and it'll change...well, there are so many sayings about change.
Some weeks just have a lot of change in them. I had my heart set on doing something with grandchildren recently and it didn't work out. But what I did instead was very nice indeed. Then within 24 hours this week I had a "no" on something, then the next day at about the same time, a "yes." At first I was upset at the news but I noticed that after I decided that the "no" was okay, that there must be some reason for it, I got the "yes" news.
I figure change is a lot easier if we don't fight it, if we make ourselves happy with what is in our life, and if we express gratitude.
Two years ago I was determined to move and put myself through a lot to put the house on the market. Well, I'm sure you've seen what's been happening to the housing market...I got a part-time teaching job in that other city and have been making a very long drive three days a week. Well, I'm thinking maybe that's something that I need to change until I actually move there.
Have you had change in your life lately? What's it been? How have you coped?

My most recent change was that my husband was deployed to Afghanistan for a year. He has been deployed before, but this one seems to be a little more difficult, being in Alaska and family is all in Idaho and then raising 5 kids (girl-14, boy-11, boy-8, boy-4 & girl 21months. I am doing the only thing I know and that is to trust GOD to not only get me through this but to thrive while he is away. Being involved in many activities, not just the kids activities but some for myself also. I dont take for granted the times I do get to talk with him. I am blessed to have the amazing support of the church and the other wives of deployed soldiers to come alongside me. But only through the grace of GOD are we thriving through this deployment. I am just glad he is fighting over there and that the fighting is not here.

i have not had major change now, but 8 years ago or so, we sold all we had at Swalwell, Alberta where i had lived all my life to move 8 hours north to Peoria, Alberta. i just determined that with God's help i would only look forward not back, and by His grace it all went smoothly, though with a lot of work.

Change is healthy for us all. It keeps us enthused and excited about the "new." If we continued doing the same thing year in and year out, we'd become bored, restless and burned out, whether we'd admit to that or not.
I suppose some people are uncomfortable with change because it takes them out of their comfort zone.
I used to tell my 5th graders that change was the only thing that was permanent. We can count on things to always change. About the time we get used to something, it changes. Some of us fight those changes. However, if you embrace it and look for the positives, you will find that it works to your advantage.
I like change. I get bored doing the same thing every day. I guess that's why I've always hated housework. It's the same thing every day and every week. I do it, but sure don't like it.
