Why are we in such a hurry?
Or maybe that title should read "Why am I in such a hurry?" Because that's what I feel like--always in a hurry.
This morning I read a discussion on Amish Living about the Old Order Amish. One poster pointed out that the Amish take life slow. They work slowly, but they make sure the finished product is as perfect as they can get it. Their transportation is slow, which allows them to enjoy a long chat and appreciate their surroundings.
Contrast that to our culture. Everything moves fast, sometimes so fast we can't catch up. If we have to wait in line, even for a short time, we get impatient. A slow internet frustrates us. We want our food fast, and don't care whether it tastes good or not. We live in a constant state of instantaneous, which is supposed to make our lives easier.
I think it stresses us out. Causes us to miss things that are important. Things we might not even realize our vital to our spiritual, mental, and physical health whizz right by so we can't take advantage of them. Like time with God, time with nature, time to evaluate where we are and where we're going.
What could you do to slow down your life pace?
'Til next time,
Kathleen

Oh kathleen !! You hit that nail right on the head!!! Is it any wonder we admire the Amish like we do? I have tried so hard to slow down as my kids get older and go off to college. I have found out it is so important to take time for yourself and time to be at peace. This means thinking without your mind headed in 900 different directions !! I so want that peace the Amish have and I get a little taste of it everytime I read a great Amish book written by you or the other Amish fiction writers !!So, just know that this brings us your readers some calm and relaxation to our hectic lives !!
