A Time for Peace

It's nearly time A Time for Peace to be released! I hope you've pre-ordered it! Am also hoping you'll let me know when you have  a sighting...

In the meantime, I have a great new contest to mark the publication of A Time for Peace: the full three book set of the series (A Time to Love, A Time to Heal, and A Time for Peace). Just enter a comment about why you love to read Amish fiction here at www.AmishHearts.com Enter by midnight Friday, Sept. 16, at midnight. I'll announce the winner next week.

I'm so looking forward to the third book in the series coming out. In the book, we get to visit with Jenny and Matthew and their kinner and see what they've been up to. Jenny has has been brooding about something and just when she doesn't expect it, stumbles upon a secret that rocks her world.

I  hope that you celebrate with me the fact that the ten year anniversary of 9/11 was a time of healing and not more tragedy. The world needs more peace.

Have a wonderful week.

I started reading Amish fiction right after I suffered two major losses in my family. I was terribly depressed and my daughter suggested I start reading and walking again. I looked for light-hearted reading that seemed to have that sterotypical "happily ever after ending" for peace and easy thoughts. I worked. I have become addicted to Amish fiction and read as many of the books as I can find. I enjoy every one I've read. They're easy to read, the characters seem real to me and I've learned so much about the Amish culture. After retiring from teaching, I learned to quilt and have even become absorbed with Amish quilting! Thank you for your books. I enjoy them very much!

I buy the Amish books for my mother and they take her to her childhood where she grew up in Ohio with a Menonite great grandmother and Amish grandfather and other relatives. These books bring her so many pleasant memories and such peace to her heart it is wonderful to be able to give these as a gift. She is 82 now and wants nothing, yet a simple book can bring her unlimited pleasure. She reads and re-reads the books and shares them with her twin sister reliving their childhood memories. Thank you for writing these and letting me bring such joy to my mom at this stage of her life. Nothing else I could give her would bring her more pleasure or peace or wonderful memories.

I love reading Amish fiction. I love how Amish are such a close knit family and a close knit community. Amish are right there in the midst when needed. It seems as though they drop everything when hearing that someone is in need and off they go to give a helping hand, to give comfort, and maybe just to listen. I'm not saying we don't love God too but their faith is such that they can accept a death or an accident more readily at times than what I ever could. I know Amish grieve too but they know it is God's will and life goes on. I am just plain fascinated with their simply life. We need everything; they can get by on little.

Hello Barbara, thank you for the news about A Time for Peace. I am anxiously waiting my copy.. Ilove to read Amish stories because of the way it makes me feel, today's world is so fast paced and no one takes the time to enjoy their lives and families.. The Amish always work as family in everything, and they always remember to thank the Lord and pray for their needs and thank him.. The peace that I feel reading your books stays with me and helps me in my own life and I always go away with a deeper knowledge of some part of God's word, able to comprehend the full meaning behind the text you use.. Thank you for sharing your beautiful stories with me, but also for helping me find answers to things no one else could.. bless you.. I would love to win a set of your books, I would donate my own copies to my church library.. thank you again, with much love, hugs and prayers always.

I like reading Amish fiction for a few reasons. I like the basis of the stories with their simplistic lifestyles. They make me relax as I am drawn in to the stories of their lives. I have always been interested in the Amish as I live in a community with dozens of Amish families. One of my good friends is an Amish lady, Rebecca, and I have enjoyed spending time with her and her family, learning about their lifestyle through our conversations. I get engrossed in the books as I read them and I find myself not wanting to put them down. I would love to have this series of books. Thank you very much for offering them.

I enjoy reading Amish novels as I feel part of the story. It is the kind of life I am drawn to. Being raised Mennonite , I can relate to the Amish and their life style. It puts me in a state of their simple way of life. Putting God first and then Family. Their slower pace of life that we all can learn from.

I love Amish stories and have been reading them for years. They have such a strong faith and it always comes through in the end that, that is the best way. They have such family love and that's extended to everyone. They help neighbors when they have financial difficulties, regardless of the cause. It is just refreshing to know that there are people still out there that love, care and have faith.

At one time I think America was like that, for the most part, neighbor helping neighbor, but today that usually only happens in a catastrophe, that is sad. I think it gives me a glimpse of what use to be for everyone here in the 1800's and early 1900's.

I enjoy reading Amish Fiction because I get a feeling of peace while reading. I enjoy the small prayers that are in a lot of the stories, God is first and I know that and the fact that the family is so important is wonderful.. No matter what, if there is a problem, Amish families and friends stick together and will help each other, something that is lacking here in my city. I enjoy the slower pace, taking time to enjoy life while getting what needs to be done, done !! Respect and family values are often lost, but in my Amish Fiction, it is always there, and God will lead the way. thanks for the opportunity to win this wonderful series.. Have a blessed day !!! Rosemary

I love reading Amish fiction because it gives me a sense of contentment and peace. It helps me to rethink my lifestyle of go-go-go, and slow down and "Be still and know God". Amish life is so much more simple and rewarding. I also love the scripture references and thoughts from the bible. In Him, Laurie Wolf

The reaason I read about the AMish is it takes me back to when I grew up. It was a trusting time, one you soent with your family and didnt have to rush off somwwhere, when church was an all day affair ( dinner on the ground) not now when its rush in and rush out, You took all walks on Sunday afternoon or perhaps a Sunday nap. The Amish make us wish we have that closeness with our families. It makes us also want a better relationship with our God. To hose of you who write these books we owe a debit of appreciation...you bring us into a time we all long for. The Amish make us wish we were living like they do and not worry about whats are next appointment or rush off to this game or just be rushing here and there. I think we all crave for a slower pace and time with family and God.

I like to read Amish fiction because I used to live outside of Dover, DE with Amish farms on my street. I hope to soon be moving to Lancaster County, PA and love to read about places that I have been. Reading Amish fiction reminds me of how we all should be living according to God's Word and blocking out the sins of the outside world.

I love to read Amish fiction because it takes me to a simple and peaceful place where God, family and community are more important than the petty little things of the English world. My favorite time of day is when I read a few chapters in an Amish fiction book and say a prayer before going to sleep.

Ms. Barbara, thanks so much for giving us a chance to win these three wonderful books. I love reading about the Amish because they have a Christian life full of the simple things in life, reminds me of my growing up years when we all lived on the farm , grew our own food, hardly any store brought food at our house, plus there was always hard work to do. Being a Christian myself, I love the Christian references and how they use God's love to help get them through their everyday life, something we all need to do. Take Care, and God Bless You! Sincerely, Helen M. Gardner

I have always been interested in the Amish for as long as I can remember. I have many Amish figurines, prints and informative books about them. I admire their peaceful way so when I started to read Amish fiction I was anxious to see how they would be portrayed. I enjoy reading Amish fiction because I know I will be reading a good story about faith believing people and not have to worry about explicit sex or bad language. Thank you for being one of those great authors.
