I'm Going to Slow Down and LISTEN

Last night I made a long list of things that I need to do today, this week, this month, etc.  I felt a bit overwhelmed and wondered how I was going to get everything done.  But then this morning, I read a post from one of my favorite bloggers, and I had to rethink my "Plans."

How many times have I mentioned in my books that things happen on God's timeframe, that He has a plan?  I might miss an opportunity to help someone else if I get so focused on my own plans that I forget to listen to what God has in mind for me.  I'm not saying that you shouldn't make a list during these busy holidays, but let's not let it consume us so that we miss a chance to please God, to do things His way.

I'll keep checking things off my holiday list, working on the books, attending Christmas parties, etc. -- but I'm going to make it a point to slow down and make sure that I'm listening to the One that might have other plans for me, despite my exhaustive lists.

Here's the post that made me think about this.  Enjoy!

Are You Paying Attention?

Dearest Beth, Thank you for the beautiful post and the message Are you paying attention.. How many times does one pass someone who needs help if nothing but a smile or kind word because even though we see them we are too busy to pay attention to them.. I know sometimes we are in such a hurry to get the things we need and rush by giving nothing to that lady with the kids crying or the man staring at something trying to make a decision about if he should buy it? I went to the grocery store last week and as usual due to my the spells I get from the florescent lighting I was hurrying.
But as I stopped to get some bacon I there was a young man with two beautiful children in one those carts that look like a car.. anyway this poor man would pick up a pkg of bacon then put it down, the little ones were chatting and one sneezed, so I said bless you , and started to move on, the little girl started talking to me and I love children, and so I stopped and talk to her for a while well the little boy just sat there quiet, too quiet for a boy his age, and so I ask him if he like to drive the cart..the little girl just kept talking and the man was still looking at the bacon.. so I tried again with the boy, he finally in a very low voice ask me if I knew his mamaw..and when I said no I was sorry I didn't, he slid back but the little girl piped up and said my mamaw is sick and I said I was sorry to hear that and I told them I would say a prayer for her, the man dropped the pkg of bacon and told them that was enough and he started away, something in my heart told me do something , so I remembered I had cut coupon out for an off brand bacon. so as he slowly walked away, I called to him and told him I seen him looking at the bacon, and I ask if he would use this brand, he said he usually bought thick sliced, and I said they have it, and I have a coupon I won't use and if he wanted it he could have it.. bless his heart he took it ,I watched him pickup the bacon and he said bless you, I really can use it.. and the kids just grinned and he smiled and said thanks again and walked away smiling.. now I know this long but sometimes God's voice speaks to us and we need to slow down, pay attention to him and make someone happy.. I was so happy to see this man happy.. I didn't know him, but that didn't matter I had made somone who needed help.. God is with us always, and I thank for your message and wonderful books, God bless you.. hugs and prayers always..
